TERRE DE LIN is committed to sustainable development for many decades. The co-operative structure and values it carries, naturally respectful flax/linen cultivation environment, commitment to advancing its practices, are the engines of sustainable development at TERRE DE LIN.

  • Traceability

    • From field to flax/linen sliver, TERRE DE LIN ensures complete traceability. Engaged in Agriconfiance approach, the cooperative is certified according to the NF V01-005 standard, equivalent to ISO 9001 applied to agriculture and involving producers.

      This standard ensures not only the control of the organization and the quality of products but also product traceability from the field.

  • Environmental friendliness

    • Flax is an environmentally friendly culture:

      • Unirrigated
      • It follows a long cycle of crop rotation (6-7 years). This increases crop biodiversity of farms and prevents from diseases installation
      • It requires few inputs
      • It is a carbon sink that holds 3.7 tons of CO2 per hectare

       

    • TERRE DE LIN is based on these fundamental to make the cultivation of flax/linen increasingly respectful of the environment. The contributions of the cooperative are multiple:

      • The use of flax/linen ropes for farm works and scutching
      • The creation of varieties naturally resistant to diseases (3 diseases in 30 years)
      • Agronomic trials for the rationalization of inputs and adapt cultural techniques
      • Organic flax grown on small areas. The organic flax culture enriches the agronomic techniques of conventional cultivation
      • The creation of linseed varieties for crop rotation and input of Omega 3 in nutrition

  • Social responsibility

    • The cooperative system has a transparent and equitable governance:

      • Each member farmer owns a share of the cooperative
      • They all have equal voting rights and take in common decisions
      • The cooperative has a long-term development policy to ensure its members sustainable income
      • Incomes are equitable between farmers

       

    • TERRE DE LIN cooperative is an entity with a human scale:

      • It allows a constant exchange between farmers and staff
      • It provides specific training for its employees
      • The values of human respect and mutual aid are very present
      • Rooted in its area, TERRE DE LIN contribute to economic development and maintenance of local employment
